Our Classes

Boys & Girls Club of Decatur offers a variety of programs to help develop our youth through
education, athletic, and cultural opportunities. Our current programs include the following.

Power Hour Homework Help

Power Hour helps club members ages 7-18 achieve academic success by providing homework help, tutoring and high-yield learning activities and encouraging members to become self-directed learners.

Career Launch

Career Launch is the Boys & Girls Club’s job readiness and career preparation program. It provides fun and interactive activities for youth ages 13 to 18 to explore a broad range of career areas, match.

All Stars

ALL STARS is a high-quality health and wellness program supported nationwide by BGCA, with the goal of creating team sports experiences for children ages 7-17.

Illinois Junior Chef

Illinois Junior Chefs is University of Illinois Extension’s new cooking school curriculum for youth ages 8-13. Teen teachers from Illinois 4-H and staff members with the Illinois Nutrition Education Programs work together to provide a fun, engaging program that allows youth to learn about nutrition, try new healthful recipes, and gain new kitchen skills. 

LittleBits

LittleBits are electronic building blocks that are color-coded, magnetic, and make complex technology simple and fun. Together they’re interchangeable in millions of different ways to empower kids to invent anything – from a sibling alarm, to a wireless robot, to a digital instrument.

Money Matters

Make it Count™ promotes financial responsibility and independence among Club members ages 13 to 18.

SMART Moves

(Skills Mastery and Resistance Training) prevention/education program addresses problems such as drug and alcohol use and premature sexual activity.

Triple Play

Triple Play comprehensive health and wellness program, developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, strives to improve the overall health of Club members’ ages 7-187 by increasing their daily physical activity, teaching them good nutrition and helping them develop healthy relationships.

Street SMART

Street SMART counteracts the negative lures of gangs, violence and street influences on young adolescents ages 11-13. While building awareness and resistance skills, participants develop the confidence and knowledge to make intelligent choices.

Intramural Basketball

Intramural Basketball gives children ages 7-13 the opportunity to participate in a basketball league on a competitive and noncompetitive level.

Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts is an organization dedicated solely to girls—all girls—where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.
